MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Temple women's soccer (1-3-3, 0-1-0 AAC) fell to Memphis (7-1-1, 1-0-0 AAC) 4-0, in the American Athletic Conference opener on Thursday night. The dominant Memphis offense found contributions from four different goal scorers to close out the match.
How it Happened
"We knew that this was an extremely dangerous team coming into the match tonight," Nick Bochette said. "They put us under pressure from the very start and played a full 90 minutes. The biggest takeaway from this is learning the level of competitiveness and grit needed to compete at this level."

How it Happened
- The Tigers came out firing on all cylinders, monopolizing the Owls defensive zone for the first 20 minutes of play. Despite multiple attempts, the Temple backline held strong, successfully defending four corner kick opportunities.
- Memphis kept offensive possession, drawing a foul inside of the box in the 23rd minute resulting in a penalty kick. Saorla Miller lined up for the kick, but standout goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein came up big for the Owls, making the stop to halt the Tiger advantage.
- Memphis found their first true opening of the night on a free kick opportunity from the right side of the box. Kimberly Scott capitalized, sailing a shot just over the hands of Stablein for the go-ahead goal in the 31st minute.
- Memphis struck again just seven minutes into the second half as Maya Jones rocketed a grounder into the box to streaking Jocelyn Alonzo for the goal.
- Haylee Spray found a goal in the 64th minute, coming out of a scramble to tap the ball into the back of the net to stretch the advantage to 3-0.
- The Tigers weren't done, as Grace Stordy sent a cannon into the top left corner of the net for the last and final goal of the night in the 75th minute.
