Field Hockey Looks for Second-Straight Undefeated Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team will look to take the momentum of its 2-0 opening weekend to open September play, facing Hofstra on the road on Sept .3 before hosting Bucknell on Sept. 5.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> The Owls swept opening weekend, defeating Merrimack and Drexel to go 2-0 for the second time in three years. 
> Temple is 1-0 on the road this year, topping Drexel 3-2 despite the Dragons getting on the board in the first minute of the game.
> Freshmen Julianne Kopec and Tess Muller have emerged as key players early, with Kopec scoring both goals against Merrimack and Muller recording a goal and an assist over the weekend.
> Graduate transfer Megan Ragusa is a force in the cage, recording six of the Owls' seven saves and posting a clean sheet against Merrimack.
> Ragusa and Muller were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for their impressive debuts in Cherry and White.

SCOUTING HOFSTRA
> Hofstra split its first two matches of the season, dropping the opener at Lafayette before dominating its home opener against Wagner.
> The Pride has outscored their opponents 5-3, with junior Mercedes Currie leading the team with a pair of goals.
> Junior Merljin van der Vegt is on the way to another solid season in the cage, recording 10 saves on 20 shots faced.

SERIES HISTORY
> This will be the 12th time that the two teams are meeting, with Temple holding a 9-2 advantage.
> The Owls won the last matchup 1-0 at home, winning two of the last three meetings.
> This is the second-straight year that the teams are meeting, and the second year that the teams have met since 2003.

SCOUTING BUCKNELL
> Bucknell is 1-1 heading into the weekend, falling 0-3 to No. 24 James Madison before defeating LIU 2-1 in overtime. 
> The Bison has been outscored by their opponents 4-2, with Lily Nielson and MK Stefanowicz scoring the team's goals.
> Clara McCormick has recorded eight saves on 17 shots faced for a .667 save percentage. 

SERIES HISTORY
> This will be the ninth meeting between the teams, with Bucknell holding a 5-3 series advantage.
> The Owls have dropped the last two matches, falling in both games at home.
