Field Hockey Looks to Remain Undefeated in League Action

PHILADELPHIA - Looking for its best start in conference play since 2012, the Temple field hockey team will travel to the nation's capital to face Georgetown Friday afternoon.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls are off to their best start in program history since going 7-1-1 in 1991.
> The team earned its second conference win last weekend with a 1-0 victory over Villanova, the first time since 2014 that the Owls have won their first two league wins.
> The Cherry and White is undefeated on the road, posting two shutouts and allowing just four goals.
> The Temple offense has spread the love, with seven Owls scoring so far this season. Julianne Kopec leads the team with five while Kerrie Lorenz and Tess Muller round out
the multiple goal scorers with two.
> Graduate transfer Megan Ragusa is a force in the cage, recording 36 of the team's 40 saves and posting a league-leading four clean sheets.
> Ragusa has allowed just 11 goals for a 0.766 save percentage and ranks 12th in the nation with a 1.14 GAA.
> Temple has not won its first three league wins since 2012, with the team going 5-2 in the A-10 and advancing to the conference tournament semifinals.

Scouting Georgetown
> The Hoyas are 4-5 (0-2 BIG EAST) on the season, returning to the pitch after not competing in the 2020-21 spring season.
> Georgetown has won two of its last three games, both in extra minutes, taking Brown to a shootout last weekend.
> Keeper Ciara Weets has been clutch in the cage, leading the conference in save percentage (0.771) and averaging 6.0 saves per game to rank 15th in the NCAA.
> The team is fourth in the nation in penalty corners per game, averaging 8.11 per game.

Series History
> This will be the 14th meeting between the teams, with Temple holding a 9-4 edge.
> The Owls won the last matchup in 2019, snapping an 18-game losing streak in BIG EAST play dating back to October 2016 with an overtime goal from Dani Batze.
> This is the second-straight game to be played in Washington, D.C.
