Women's Basketball Returns to McGonigle Against Houston on Saturday

Patrons will need to show their COVID vaccination card (either physical card or picture on their phone) or proof of a neagtive test within 24 hours of entry to attend the game at McGonigle. Saturday's game will be 90's Day for all fans in attendance.
LAST GAME
> In their last time out, the Owls started off conference play with a bang with a 75-68 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats on Jan. 8.
> Forwards Mia Davis and Alexa Williamson both scored 20-plus points for the Owls as the Temple women's basketball team (6-6, 1-0 AAC) opened up conference play with a win over Cincinnati (7-7, 0-2 AAC). The Owls raced out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back from there, maintaining the lead for the rest of the contest.
> Davis: game-high 23 points and seven rebounds
> Williamson: 20 points in 21 minutes and eight rebounds
> Jasha Clinton: 12 points
> Aniya Gourdine: Eight points and a team-high 10 rebounds
THE OWLS
> Temple is playing in their first home game at McGonigle Hall since their Dec. 11 contest against Saint Joseph's. The Owls have had four of their past five scheduled games postponed due to COVID-19.
> The Owls are coming off their conference-opening road win against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Jan. 8.
> Against Cincinnati, forwards Mia Davis and Alexa Williamson led the way, both scoring more than 20 points for Temple.
> In their last time out, guards Jasha Clinton and Aniya Gourdine combined for 20 points. Gourdine tallied a career-high 10 rebounds as well to go along with seven assists.
SCOUTING HOUSTON
> Houston is one of the most prolific teams shooting from behind the arc in the AAC. In total, the Cougars shoot 34.8% from three-point land, the second-best mark in the conference.
> The Cougars have a balanced scoring attack as five players average more than eight points per game.
> In Houston's two road conference games this season, the Cougars defeated Wichita State by a score of 66-61 before falling to UCF two games later, 62-59.

> The last time these two teams met, Temple suffered a 89-52 loss to Houston at McGonigle Hall. The Owls fell to 7-8 (7-5 AAC) while the Cougars improved their record to 11-5 (8-4 AAC). Â
> Houston knocked down 11 three-pointers to fuel their way past the Owls. The Cougars shot 50.8% (31-61) from the field and 44% (11-25) from beyond the arc.Â
> Temple committed 26 turnovers to log their second-most turnovers in a game this season. Houston was able to capitalize on the Owls' mistakes and score 40 points off turnovers.Â
> The Cougars held a slight advantage on the boards, pulling down 37 rebounds to Temple's 32.Â
