Women's Track and Field Returns to Action at Villanova Invitational on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's track and field team will travel to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. this weekend for the Villanova Invitational. The meet ends a more than a month-long drought of competition for the Owls.

Temple will face off against Cornell, Monmouth, Penn, St. John's, and Villanova to name a few.

About the Villanova Invitational
> The field events start things off in Staten Island as the long jump, triple jump, and high jump events begin at 12:00pm. Nicole Castor, Amira Green, Sophia Gulotti, Allyson Metzger, Tannekee Strachan will feature in these events.
> The running events begin shortly after as Castor and Guloitti begin in the 60m hurdles prelims.
> Midway through the meet, Temple's Deyona Banks, Willa Gibson, Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye, Kwanda Knight, and Marissa White line up for the 400 meter dash at 2:50pm.
> At 3:50pm, Castor, Chelby Elam, Gulotti, and Jewel Ofotan compete in the 200 meter dash.
> The 4x400 meter relay rounds the day out as two Temple relay teams aim for the podium.

Last Time Out
> Christal Pommells stole the show in the 60m event, taking the top spot with a time of 7.75 as four Owls qualified for the final race. Elam (7.77) was the only other Owl to place in the top-three.
> In the triple jump, Strachan leaped to an 11.98 mark to take the top spot.
> Ilelaboye raced to a second-place finish in the 300m, racing to a time of 40.62. Five other Owls also competed in the race.
> Banks competed in the 600m for the Owls, clocking a time of 1:44.55.
> Metzger placed third in the long jump with a mark of 4.94 meters. Shortly after, Green took third place in the high jump.
