Turnovers Plague Temple as Owls Fall at UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Temple women's basketball team (9-9, 4-3 AAC) dropped its second consecutive conference game against the UCF Knights (15-3, 7-1 AAC) on Monday afternoon, 64-55. Up by two points midway through the fourth quarter, the Knights went on a 15-2 run to go up by double-digits with a few minutes and coasted the rest of the way for the victory.

Statistical Leaders
> Mia Davis: team-high 20 points and six rebounds
> Alexa Williamson: 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds
> Aniya Gourdine: 11 points and eight rebounds

First Quarter: Temple 24, UCF 11
> Temple started the game off on the front foot, roaring out to an 8-0 lead in the opening minutes thanks to five early points from Gourdine.
> Shortly after, five consecutive points including a three-pointer from Davis stretched Temple's lead to 11 to force a UCF timeout.
> In the closing minutes of the quarter, perfect free-throw shooting from Emani Mayo and Davis couple with another three-pointer from Davis gave the Owls a 13-point lead at the close of the quarter.

Second Quarter: Temple 30, UCF 31
> The roles reversed in the second quarter as UCF forced Temple into multiple turnovers that led to easy buckets.
> The Owls only managed eight points in the quarter and the Knights ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to take the lead going into halftime.

Third Quarter: Temple 44, UCF 41
> The Owls responded with a bang in the third quarter as a layup from Davis got the scoring started for Temple.
> Temple spread the scoring around in the period as six different Temple players scored to take the lead going into the fourth quarter.

Fourth Quarter: Temple 55, UCF 64
> Temple opened the final period with three points to stretch the lead to six and appeared in control, but a 6-0 UCF run in the following minutes tied the game.
> Over the course of the next four minutes, turnovers plagued the Owls as the Knights went on a 15-2 run to take control of the game.

> The Owls return home for the first game of a three-game home stretch when they take on the Wichita State Shockers on Feb. 2 at 7:00pm in McGonigle Hall.
> The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+.
