Chase Shoots Career-Best 65, Golf Sits Tied for Seventh at Phoenix Invitational

Burlington, N.C. – Sophomore Graham Chase shot a blistering six-under 65 for his second round of the day to lead Temple Golf to a seventh-place tie among the 17 teams competing at the Phoenix Invitational Monday. The two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by Elon at the 6,867-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club will conclude with a final round Tuesday.
Recapping Day One
> In recording his collegiate career-best round, Chase had six birdies while parring the remaining 12 holes to lead the way for the Owls. He also had three birdies in his morning round, a one-under 70, and is tied for fifth overall with a seven-under 135.
> Conor McGrath rebounded from a two-over 73 in his opening round to card a three-under 68 in the afternoon. McGrath eagled the par-5 sixth hole and is currently tied for 23rd at one-under 141.
> Ethan Whitney shot a two-under 69 in the morning, also eagled the sixth hole, and followed that with a two-over 73 to finish the day at even-par (142) and tied for 27th.
> Andrew Curran, who also had an eagle (par-5, 12th) in his first round, carded a seven over 149 and is tied for 70th in the 100-man field while Jake Naese, playing in his second tournament for the Owls, rounded out the team's scoring with a 158 (+16).

> Elon leads the tournament with 24-under 544. Stetson (-17) is seven strokes back in second then there is a big drop off to Lafayette (-7) in third. Temple is tied with North Carolina A&T at one-under.
> Elon's Garrett Risner (-12) leads Radford's Bryce Corbett (-10) by two strokes.
