Field Hockey Looks to Continue Winning Streak

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team will split its time between the road and at home this weekend, facing No. 16 Liberty in Virginia Friday night before hosting Brown Sunday afternoon.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> The Owls are on a three-game winning streak and have won their last two conference games. 
> After the team's win over Drexel, Temple surpassed last season's win total (8). The 10 wins mark the first time since 2014 that the Owls have won 10+ games. 
> Temple has outscored its opponents 35-15, scoring 14 more goals than last season's total. The Cherry and White has scored 5+ goals four times this season.
> 12 Owls have scored so far, with McKenna Burkhardt's eight leading the team.
> Molly Frey has been a force in goal, posting 33 of the team's 37 saves. She enters the weekend with a 0.688 save percentage and a 1.10 GAA to rank 10th in the NCAA. Her win-loss percentage (0.769) is ninth.
> The Cherry and White mounted a tremendous comeback effort in its 6-3 league opening win, clawing back from a 3-0 deficit at the half with six unanswered goals. Four of Temple's six goals came in a six-minute span during the third quarter. The team also topped Providence 2-1 in a shootout victory, coming back from a 1-0 deficit and going 3-1 in the stroke-off.

SCOUTING LIBERTY
> Liberty is 8-5 on the season entering the weekend, the only team to remain undefeated in BIG EAST play.
> Four of the team's losses have come to top-25 teams, including a 3-0 loss at then-No. 1 Northwestern.
> The Flames dropped their last matchup and are 3-2 in their last five games.
> The team is second in the NCAA in scoring average (4.10), scoring margin (2.96), and shutouts per game (0.62).
> Daniella Rhodes leads the Flames' offense, scoring 10 of the team's 54 goals. 

SERIES HISTORY
> This will be the 13th meeting between the teams, with Liberty holding an 11-1 advantage.
> The Owls won the first meeting in the series but have fallen in the next 11, topping the Flames 3-0 in 2011.
> The teams met twice last season, once in the regular season and once in the BIG EAST Tourament semifinals. Temple's scoreline improved in the second matchup, falling 6-1 in the regular season and 4-2 in the postseason. The Flames would go on to win the tournament championship and advance to the NCAA National Championship.

SCOUTING BROWN
> Brown enters the weekend 8-3 (1-2 Ivy) and will face Penn Saturday afternoon before heading to North Broad.
> The Bears lost their last match 3-2 in overtime against Columbia and are 3-2 in their last five games with both losses coming in overtime and all three wins being shutouts.
> The team has outscored its opponents 30-18, with Lexi Pellegrino's 10 goals leading the offensive effort.
> In the cage, Jodie Brine has seen a majority of the team's minutes posting 44 saves on 121 shots faced for a 1.43 GAA and 0.733 save percentage.

> This will be the first meeting between the teams.
