Graham Chase Tied for Third After First Day of Wolfpack Intercollegiate

Raleigh, N.C. – Coming off his best tournament as a collegiate golfer, Graham Chase led Temple Saturday with a four-under 140 to tie for third in the 84-player field at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. The Owls sit in eighth place among the 14 teams in the 54-hole tournament being held at N.C. State's Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Recapping the Day
> Chase started the day with a flawless first round, making three birdies while parring the remaining 15 holes for a three-under 69. He would add an additional four birdies in the afternoon in carding a one-under 71.
> Ethan Whitney was next for the Owls, tying for 20th with a one-over 145. He made four of his seven birdies in his morning round in shooting a one-under 71 and the followed that with a two-over 74 in the afternoon.
> Conor McGrath, who had been at-or-below par in eight of his 11 rounds entering play, had a rare off day. The co-captain was one-over 73 for his morning round before carding a six-over 78 in the afternoon. He did make six birdies and is tied for 49th overall with a seven-over 151.
> Andrew Curran was next for Temple with an eight-over 152 on the day to tie for 58th. He shot a three-over 75 in the afternoon round and compiled four birdies on the day.
> Joey Morganti, who made six birdies over his 36 holes, rounded out the Owls five with a 10-over 154 to tie for 66th.
The Field
> Lipscomb and Miami (OH) lead the field at four-under 572. N.C. State is one stroke back (573) and in third. Temple is 14 strokes off the pace at 10-over 586.
> Jacksonville's Jack Neill leads all players with an eight-under 136. N.C. State Maximillian Steinlechner is one shot back (137) with Chase and Carter Graf of N.C. State in third at 140.
> Temple is paired with James Madison and Western Carolina and tees off from the 10th hole at 8 am Sunday in the final round.
