Golf Opens Spring Season at Wexford Intercollegiate on Monday

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Temple golf team opens its spring season next Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 20-21) at the 17th Annual Wexford Intercollegiate. The 18-team event will be held at the Arnold Palmer Signature Course, which is a 6,913-yard, par 72 course and it is a regular stop on the PGA Tour. The Owls placed eighth as a team at the Wexford Intercollegiate last February.
Previewing the Owls
> The Owls will start Andres Aranguren (r-So), Graham Chase (Jr), Conor McGrath (Sr), Joey Morganti (So), and Ethan Whitney (So) at Wexford.
> Senior co-captain Conor McGrath led the Owls in the fall with a 70.88 stroke average. McGrath placed in the top 10 in three out of the six tournaments.
> Junior co-captain Graham Chase had the second best stroke average on the team (71.06) in his best collegiate fall season, including his three top 10 finishes.
> Sophomore Ethan Whitney had a stroke average of 72.12, en route to an impressive fall campaign. He finished first at the Cornell/Temple Fall Invite, shooting a five-under.
> Redshirt sophomore Andres Aranguren competed in his first two collegiate tournaments this fall, finishing with a stroke average of 76.40.
> Sophomore Joey Morganti played in five tournaments in the fall, finishing in the top 20 at the Cornell/Temple Invite. He posted a stroke average of 75.93.

> The host, Francis Marion is the defending champion. The other teams in the field are Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, Dayton, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Georgia State, High Point, Mercer, Nicholls State, Ohio, Presbyterian, Radford, Richmond, Samford, South Carolina-Aiken, Winthrop, and Xavier.
