Golf Sits in 15th Place After Day One at Visit Stockton Invitational

Stockton, Calif. – Temple's top two golfers Conor McGrath and Graham Chase shot under par for the first day at the Visit Stockton Invitational, but the rest of the squad struggled as the Owls finished the day in 15th place in the 16-team field. The three-day, 54-hole tournament continues with round two Friday at the 6,566-yard, par-71 Stockton Golf and Country Club.

- Graham Chase continued his strong finish to the fall season, leading the Owls and tying for 27th overall with a one-under 70. Chase, who had consecutive Top 10 finishes in his last two tournaments, eagled the 16th, his seventh hole of the day, and added two more birdies during his round. He is tied for 27th, five strokes off the leaders.
- Conor McGrath, who has a one-stroke lead over Chase for the team lead this fall, posted an even-par 71. He was two-under after 11 holes before bogeying two of his final seven. He is tied for 41st.
- Ethan Whitney and Joey Morganti each shot five-over 76 to complete the scoring for the Owls (+9, 293). Andrew Curran (+6, 77) rounded out the Owls' five.
- Grand Canyon (-11) sits in first, leading UC San Diego (-10) by one stroke. Fresno State (-9) is one stroke back in third.
- UC San Diego's Davis McDowell and UC Irvine's Jin Nakao are tied for the lead with six-under 65s.
- The Owls are again paired with Utah Tech and UC Santa Barbara and tee off from hole 10 at 8:30 am PT.
