Women's Rowing Races Three Boats at the Head of the Charles

BOSTON -- Temple Women's Rowing raced three boats this weekend at the 56th annual Head of the Charles on the Charles River between Cambridge and Boston, Mass. The Owls rowed two fours, placing 18th in the Varsity 4 Club, 12th in the Varsity 4 Championship and 29th in the Varsity 8.
Varsity 4 Club
> Temple placed 18th of 52 crews to compete in this Saturday race, finishing in a time of 19:12.056.
Varsity 4 Championship
> In a highly competitive field, Temple placed 12th of 14 crews on Sunday, finishing in a time of 18:34.016.
Heavyweight Eight
> Temple placed 29th against the nation's top eights, finishing with a time of 16:32.939.

> "The Head of the Charles is a special race and I'm so glad we could bring such a large group to experience it.
We were surrounded by awesome Temple energy all weekend from alums, family and friends and we took a lot of valuable strokes on the course.
The Club Four had a really strong race on Saturday - placing 18th in a 52-boat field and guaranteeing the entry for next year which is great!
The Championship events are the fastest of the weekend and our Champ Four and Champ Eight boats showed a lot of improvement from last weekend but ultimately weren't able to hold onto the field in the back half of the course.
On the whole, I'm really proud of how the team represented on and off the water, and the search for more speed continues. We are looking forward to getting back to Philly, getting the full team back together, and putting in some hard work this week.
Big congrats to the Philly teams who made the podium, especially the Penn & Drexel women, and go Phillies!!"
