Women's Basketball Defeats Saint Thomas Aquinas 116-48 in Exhibition

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team beat #25 St. Thomas Aquinas (DII) in an exhibition by a score of 116-48. The Owls jumped out to an early lead and never trailed in the ballgame. This was the first game for new Temple head coach Diane Richardson.
 
Statistical Leaders
  • Tarriyonna Gary: 20 points on 7-9 shooting, five rebounds, two assists.
  • Aleah Nelson: 11 points on 5-8 shooting, team-high 12 assists and three rebounds.
  • Tiarra East: game-high 21 points on 7-15 shooting, four rebounds, and three assists.
 
First Quarter: Temple 25, STAC 11
  • Temple won the tip and #25 Denise Solis got the scoring started early with a layup.
  • #22 Tarriyonna Gary had an all-around quarter, scoring five points, and adding a rebound and an assist, with one made three.
 
Second Quarter: Temple 54, STAC 19
  • #5 Tiarra East added six points in the second quarter, giving her a team-leading 11 points at the half.
 
Third Quarter: Temple 88, STAC 31
  • #1 Jasha Clinton had a scorching third quarter, scoring 10 points and hitting a three in the process.
 
Fourth Quarter: Temple 116, STAC 48
  • Temple would go on a stretch of seven out of eight made field goals early in the fourth.

  • The Owls will open their regular season at #24 Princeton on Monday, Nov. 7 at 5:00pm.
