Women's Basketball Falls to No. 24 Princeton in Season Opener

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Temple women's basketball team (0-1, 0-0 AAC) fell short in its season opener to No. 24 Princeton (1-0, 0-0 IVY) by a score of 67-49. The game marked the debut of head coach Diane Richardson for Temple.
Statistical Leaders
> Jasha Clinton: team-high 15 points.
> Tiarra East: 11 points, 11 rebounds.
First Quarter: Temple 9, Princeton 20
> The two sides started out even, with Princeton taking an early 5-4 lead. Clinton scored the first four points for the Owls.
> Princeton scored the next 13 points to jump out to a 18-4 advantage.
> TU scored the last five points of the period, with Clinton netting a layup as time expired.
> Clinton tied all scorers in first quarter points with 6.
Second Quarter: Temple 25, Princeton 28
> The second frame began going Princeton's way, with the lead growing to 25-10.
> Denise Solis scored a second chance bucket to spark a run for the Cherry & White. Temple exploded to end the half on a 15-3 run.
> Solis led Temple during the run with six points.
> Temple outscored Princeton 16-8 in the second.
Third Quarter: Temple 35, Princeton 44
> East scored the first four points of the second half for the Owls.
> The two sides kept pace for a majority of the third quarter. With 3:21 remaining, the Tigers led 38-33.
> Princeton led at the end of the third by a score of 44-35.
Fourth Quarter: Temple 49, Princeton 67
> Temple continued with hang with Princeton in the first five minutes of the final frame. Princeton scored the first four points, but the Owls countered with four points of their own.
> Princeton began to pull away as time expired. The Tigers ended the contest on a 16-9 run.
> East pulled down her 10th rebound with 2:40 left on the clock to secure her first career double-double.
