Football Loses Heartbreaker in Houston, 43-36

Keys to the Game
- Temple began the game with the ball. The Owls were able to drive the ball down the field, going 79 yards on 10 plays, capped off by a TE David Martin-Robinson 13-yard touchdown reception from QB E.J. Warner. On Houston's first possession of the game, SAF Muheem McCargo picked off QB Clayton Tune in the endzone to halt the Cougars drive.
- Houston scored on its ensuing drive, RB Stacy Sneed ran up the middle for a two-yard touchdown to tie the game, 7-7. The Owls subsequently fumbled the ball on the kickoff, giving the Cougars the ball in plus territory. Tune would run it in from 16 yards out to make it 14-7 Houston.
- Temple would counter with a fake field goal that resulted in a rushing touchdown by the holder Mackenzie Morgan to make it 14-13.
- Right before half, Warner found WR Jose Barbon for 43 yards, and RB Edward Saydee took a direct snap into the endzone to give Temple a 19-14 lead at the break.
- At the beginning of the third, Sneed ran up the middle for a 23-yard touchdown to take the lead back for the Cougars, 21-19.
- Tune would find TE Christian Trahan for a 10-yard touchdown, extending the Houston lead to nine.
- The Owls would answer the Houston score with one of their own. Warner found WR Amad Anderson Jr. in the endzone to cut the lead to two.
- In keeping with the back-and-forth pattern, Tune would find WR Nathaniel Dell for a 10-yard touchdown, putting Houston back up by nine.
- Temple would drive down the field once again, with K Camden Price knocking in a 22-yard field goal to cut the lead to six.
- Late in the fourth quarter, Warner found WR Zae Baines in the endzone to put the Owls up 36-35 with 1:22 remaining.
- With 40 seconds left on the clock, Tune found WR Matthew Golden on a 44-yard heave in the endzone to give the Cougars the win, 43-36.
- LT Isaac Moore set the school record for most consecutive games played with 55. Moore has not missed a game in his career.
- QB E.J. Warner passed P.J. Walker for most passing yards all-time by a freshman in Temple history (Warner, 2,334, Walker, 2,084). Warner also becomes the 6th quarterback in Temple history to throw for 2,000 yards in a single season. Warner also threw for the most passing yards (486), completions (42), and attempts (59) in a game in Temple history .
- WR Jose Barbon recorded his fifth 100-yard receiving game of the season, tying Jadan Blue (2019) and Van Johnson (1996) for the most in a single season.
- The opening touchdown of the game to TE David Martin-Robinson was the first of his career. WR Zae Baines' fourth quarter score was also the first of his career.
- SAF Muheem McCargo's first quarter interception was the first of his career.
The Owls will return home to face the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday, Novermber 19. Kickoff is set for 4pm on ESPNU and 97.5 the Fanatic.
