The Owls will travel to Houston to take on the Cougars for their final road game of the regular season. Kickoff is set for November 12 at 3:00pm on ESPN+ and 97.5 The Fanatic.
Last Week
Temple dominated USF by a score of 54-28. The Owls exploded on offense as the team did not punt once, the first time in school history. Running back, Edward Saydee, was the star of the show as he scored three touchdowns and tallied 334 all-purpose yards (265 rushing, 69 receiving), good for fourth most in a game in over 50 years. QB E.J. Warner had the best game of his young career, completing 27 passes for 344 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. SAF Alex Odom was a key contributer for the defense recording two TFLs and an interception.
Last Time vs. Houston
The last time Temple faced Houston, the Owls fell 37-8. The Owls trailed 10-0 going into halftime, playing through wet conditions throughout much of the first three quarters. A Temple touchdown early in the fourth quarter cut the deficit to two scores which gave the Owls hope for a comeback, but two Houston touchdowns shortly after put the game out of reach.
Last Time at Houston
The last time the Owls faced off against the Cougars in Houston was in 2018. It was a high-scoring and run-dominated 59-49 win. RB Ryquell Armstead and the offense went score-for-score with the electric Houston offense. Armstead has a career game finishing with 210 yards and a career-high and then AAC-record six touchdowns. He was just one touchdown shy of tying the program record held by Montel Harris who scored seven in 2012 against Army. Armstead wasn't the only Owl to get into the endzone, as Temple DT Freddie Booth-Lloyd had a one-yard rush for a touchdown, his third score of the season. WR Ventell Bryant penned his name in the Temple record books by surpassing new Temple Athletics Hall of Famer Willie Marshall's all-time receiving yards record of 2,272 yards.
Temple-Houston History
The Cougars lead the all-time series over the Owls, 7-1. The only win for the Owls came in 2018, the last time the two teams met in Houston.
