HOUSTON – The Temple women's basketball team (12-12, 7-6 AAC) suffered its second consecutive loss on Wednesday night, falling to the Houston Cougars (13-13, 6-8 AAC) by a score of 80-60. Down by eight points with four minutes to play in the third quarter, the Cougars ended the quarter on a 13-4 run to take command for the rest of the contest. Red hot shooting (50.0% from three-point land) from the Cougars kept the Owls from cutting into the deficit.

> Mia Davis: game-high 24 points on 7-14 shooting
> Caranda Perea: 13 points, 4-7 shooting from three-point range
First Quarter: Temple 15, Houston 19
> Houston began the game with a hot start as they took a 7-1 lead early on to force a Temple timeout.
> The Owls answered back with a 7-3 run of their own in the following minute's thanks to an and-one basket from Davis and good free-throw shooting.
> TU ended the quarter on a 7-4 run to close Houston's deficit to four points. Perea knocked down a three-pointer after beating the full-court press.
> Davis led the team in the period with seven points.
Second Quarter: Temple 29, Houston 33
> The Cherry & White opened the quarter on an 11-4 run to take their first lead of the game. Perea drained her second three of the night during the run with Davis, Shantay Taylor, and Alexa Williamson also adding to the score sheet.
> The Cougars answered back with a 10-2 run of their own to retake the lead in a hard-fought second quarter.
> Ultimately, the quarter ended in a dead-even split with both teams scoring 14 points apiece.
Third Quarter: Temple 41, Houston 58
> An 8-2 run coming out of the half gave the Cougars a double-digit lead with just under eight minutes remaining in the half which forced a Temple timeout.
> Five consecutive points from Davis out of the timeout brought the deficit to nine at the third quarter media timeout.
> The back half of the third quarter belonged to UH, however, a 13-4 run highlighted by a three-pointer from Britney Onyeje gave the Cougars a 17-point lead with 10 minutes to play.
Fourth Quarter: Temple 60, Houston 80
> The Cougars' stayed lights out at the beginning of the fourth quarter as back-to-back three-pointers from Bria Patterson stretched the home team's lead.
> A three-pointer from Perea was canceled out by two three-point baskets directly after from Houston.
> Davis scored her 20th point with four and a half minutes to play in the game.
