Track and Field Travels to Columbia Challenge for Two-Day Meet

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's track and field team returns to action on Friday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 5 when they travel to New York for the Columbia Challenge. Last weekend, the track and field team did not participate in the Great Dane Classic due to inclement weather.
About the Columbia Challenge
> On Friday, Christal Pommells and Chelby Elam take part in the 60-meter dash preliminary rounds with hopes on advancing to the finals.
> Allyson Metzger and Tannekee Strachan will compete in the long jump on Friday in heats one and three, respectively.
> Nicole Castor and Sophia Gulotti line up against athletes from Boston COllege, UConn, and UCLA to name a few in the women's pentathlon.
> On Saturday, Michelle Joyce and Cat Shontz will make their indoor track and field debut when they line up for the 3000-meter run.
> The Owls trot out a plethora of runners for the 400-meter dash including Kwanda Knight, Lea Kerbiriou, Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye, and Marissa White.
Last Time Out (Villanova Invitational)
> Marissa White placed third in the 400-meter dash behind Villanova's McKenna Keegan and Skyy Diop while posting a time of 56.28. The time is a personal best for White.
> In the 200-meter dash, Chelby Elam placed eighth with a time of 25.49.
> In the 4x400-meter relay, the Owls' "A" team featuring Elam, Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye, Dominyka Petraskaite, and White raced to a third-place finish behind Cornell and Villanova with a time of 3:53.25.
> Tannekee Strachan leaped to a personal-best 5.38m mark to take the second spot in the long jump event.
