Golf Sits Sixth After First Day at ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE N.C. – Temple Golf finished the first two rounds of the ECU Intercollegiate in sixth place in the 12-team field. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the Brook Valley Country Club on its par-72, 6,831-yard Ellis Maples-designed course.
Recapping the Day
> Freshman Ethan Whitney led the Owls and is tied for 13th overall with a two-over 146, courtesy of a team-high six birdies on the day. Whitney carded a two-over 74 in the morning round and improved two strokes in the afternoon with an even-par 72.
> Senior co-captain Dawson Anders shot a two-over 74 in the first round. Anders carded a four-over 76 in the second round to end the day tied for 25th with a six-over 150.
> Sophomore Graham Chase had the best first round for the Owls with a one-over 73 but shot five-over 77 in the afternoon and is tied with Anders for 25th overall.
> Junior co-captain Conor McGrath shot a three-over 75 in the first round but had an uncharacteristic seven-over 79 in the afternoon to tie for 46th overall with a 10-over 154.
> Junior Buddy Hansen struggled on the day, carding a six-over 78 in the morning and. a seven-over 79 for his second round to end the day tied for 55th overall.
> Freshmen Joey Morganti and Gregory Hanna struggled as independents for the Owls, tying for 66th and 76th overall, respectively.
The Field
> Southern Miss leads the field at two-under. Francis Marion is in second place at nine-over, followed by Gardner-Webb (+12), Oakland (+14), and host ECU (+21).
> West Virginia's Max Green leads the field by three strokes through two rounds with a six-under 138.
