Golf Finishes Seventh at ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE N.C. – Temple Golf finished in seventh place in the 12-team field at the ECU Intercollegiate Tuesday. The Owls struggled in the final round, as they finished the day with a 19-over 307 at the Brook Valley Country Club on its par-72, 6,831-yard Ellis Maples-designed course.
Recapping the Round
> Senior co-captain Dawson Anders had birdies on three of the first five holes to lead the Owls in the final round with a two-over 74. Anders finished the tournament at 21st overall with an eight-over 224.
> Freshman Ethan Whitney had a tough final round, finishing with an eight-over 80. Whitney finished the tournament tied for 24th overall with a 10-over 226.
> Sophomore Graham Chase struggled in the final round with a six-over 78. Chase was a 12-over 228 for the tournament to tie for 30th overall.
> Junior Buddy Hansen had a team-high five birdies, as he improved four strokes from the second round to finish with a three-over 75. He tied for 44th overall.
> Junior co-captain Conor McGrath had another tough day with an eight-over 80 to finish the tournament tied for 50th overall.
> Freshmen Joey Morganti and Gregory Hanna struggled as independents for the Owls. Morganti finished the tournament tied for 73rd overall and Hanna finished at 78th overall.
The Field
> Southern Miss won the tournament title by 21 strokes with an even-par 864. Francis Marion (885) placed second followed by host ECU (888), Gardner-Webb (890), and Oakland (893).
> West Virginia's Max Green and Gardner Webb's Zack Byers shot a five-under 211 to share the tournament title.

> "It was a difficult golf course with exceptionally tough greens. Unfortunately, some of our best players are struggling a bit, but we have two and a half weeks before our next tournament, so we will work hard and get everyone ready to go for the Princeton Invitational."
