Women’s Tennis to Host Binghamton on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis (8-4) is set to welcome Binghamton (0-17) on Saturday, Apr. 2 at the TU Pavilion for the Owls second outdoor home match of the year. The battle against the Bearcats is set to kickoff at 11 a.m.

The Owls

The Owls advanced to 8-4 on the season after posting a 7-0 sweep over Morgan State on Mar. 30. The sweep over the Bears served as the Owls fifth sweep of the year, which all have been at home.
Freshman Veronika Kulhava and Senior Yining Tian lead the team with nine singles wins in dual play this year from a range of different positions. Kulhava has posted a 9-2 mark, while Tian is 9-3.
The doubles pairing of Evie Wei and Sena Takebe has found success this year, posting a 7-2 mark, including a 5-1 showing from the No. 2 position and a 2-1 performance in the No. 1 spot.

Scouting the Bearcats

The Bearcats enter the match 0-17, falling most recently to Northern Illinois, 7-0.
Lara Kaplan has claimed the No. 1 singles spot for the Bearcats, posting a 1-15 dual record and 2-5 tournament record in 2021-22.
The duo of Caterina Casadei and Maria Pereira have competed in the No. 1 position in doubles play, posting a 1-12 mark for the Bearcats.
The pair of Kyra Bergmann and Natalia Aruj lead the team with their doubles performance this year, posting a 3-6 overall record which includes a 1-1 dual showing and 2-5 tournament mark.

The Owls are 7-1 all-time against the Bearcats, with the teams last meeting coming in 2021 where Temple swept Binghamton, 7-0.
