PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team opens its conference tournament campaign with a rubber match against the SMU Mustangs in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Mar. 8. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN+ at 3:00pm ET.

LAST GAME
> The Temple women's basketball team defeated the SMU Mustangs in its regular season finale to snap a four-game skid to clinch a first-round bye in the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
> Up by one point with just over two minutes to play, freshman guard Aniya Gourdine connected on a three-pointer to give the Owls a two-possession lead.

> Gourdine: 13 points, five rebounds, four assists
> Emani Mayo: seven points, four rebounds

THE OWLS
> The Owls enter the conference tournament after defeating the SMU Mustangs last Wednesday to clinch a first-round bye. Just two days earlier, however, Temple lost an overtime battle to the Mustangs.
> Recently named a unanimous selection to the All-AAC First Team, Davis recorded her 15th 20-plus point game of the season in the last game against SMU.
> Freshman guards Tiarra East and Gourdine come into Tuesday's game as members of the 2022 All-AAC Freshman Team. Gourdine was a unanimous selection to the squad, averaging 7.8 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game, and 4.4 assists per game thoughout the season.
> Outside of Davis, the frontcourt is led by senior Alexa Williamson and freshman Kyra Wood. The two forwards have rotated throughout the season to help the Owls rank fifth in the conference in rebounds per game.

SCOUTING SMU
> SMU comes into Tueday's matchup as the fifth seed in the conference. This seeding is far better than their placing in the AAC preseason poll where the Mustangs were picked to finish 10th.
> The Mustangs are led by All-AAC Second Team forward Savannah Wilkinson who leads the team in points per game and rebounds per game.
> Guard Kayla White was named to the All-AAC Third Team after averaging 13.7 points per game throughout the season.
