Lacrosse Drops to No. 10 Florida, 18-7

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Temple lacrosse (10-5, 3-1 AAC) dropped to No. 10 Florida (11-4, 4-0 AA) in an American Athletic Conference battle on Saturday afternoon. The loss to the Gators serves as the Owls only conference defeat this season. 
 
Recapping the Game 
>The Gators struck first, netting the first three goals of the game in the first ten minutes of play. 
>Belle Mastropietro halted the Gator momentum with a goal of her own, putting the Owls on the board off a Mackenzie Roth assist with less than three minutes to play in the quarter. 
>With only 15 seconds remaining, Florida struck twice to advance the lead to 5-1, before netting one more in the opening minutes of the second quarter for a 6-1 game. 
>Roth worked her magic again early in the second quarter, dishing the ball into Abaigeal Ryan for the Owls' second goal. 
>Three Gator goals followed before Katie Flynn found the back of the net for the Owls off a Mastropietro assist (9-2). 
>Quinn Nicolai worked her way onto the score sheet after netting Temple's fourth goal of the game off yet another Roth assist. 
>The Gators closed out the half with three straight goals to lead 13-4. 
>The offensive duo of Nicolai and Mastropietro found their stride right from the first whistle of the half, as Nicolai notched the fifth Owl goal of the day off a Mastropietro helper. 
>Florida answered back with three straight goals before Riley McGowan broke the momentum with a rocket into the back of the net to close out the third quarter, 16-6. 
>Nicolai opened the scoring in the fourth quarter for her third goal of the day with 11 minutes left to play, but the Gators answered back with back-to-back goals to finish the game, 18-7.

Statistically Speaking 
>Nicolai led the Owls with three goals, posting her tenth hat trick of the season. 
>Mackenzie Roth led the Owls in the assist category, dishing out three helpers to advance to 55 points on the season with 20 goals and 35 assists. 
>Annie Carroll stepped up in goal for the Owls, recording 10 saves, her ninth game this season with double-digit saves. Taylor Grollman also made two saves on four shots on target.
>Sophomore Katie Flynn notched her first career goal for the Owls off a Mastropietro assist.
