Track and Field Hosts Temple Invite on Friday for Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA - After a solid showing at the Big 5 Meet and Colonial Relays this past weekend, the Owls are back in action on Friday when they host the Temple Invitational at the Temple Sports Complex. Events scheduled to start at 2:00pm and run until 7:00pm.
About the Temple Invite
Nicole Castor, Jaaliyah Evans, Amira Green, and Sophia Gulotti will kick the meet off for the Cherry & White at 2:00pm when the four of them compete in the high jump.
A few hours later, Tannekee Strachan will attempt to build off her personal-best long jump from last weekend in the event at 4:00pm. Afterwards, Allyson Metzger will compete in the triple jump.
The running events begin at 4:00pm when TU's Ragan-Lei Phillips and Sophia Gulotti compete in the 100m hurdles.
At 4:30pm, Marissa White and Mary Olayinka Ilelaboye look to take the top two spots in the 400m dash. Directly after, Chelby Elam, Chidumga Nkulume, Jewel Ofotan, and Christal Pommells take part in the 100m dash.
At 5:45pm, the Owls will honor five seniors for Senior Day before wrapping up the event with the distance runs.
Last Time Out
Strachan, who broke the school's indoor record for the triple jump earlier this year, broke the triple jump outdoor record this afternoon with a jump of 12.66 meters. The previous record was set back in 2014 when Jamila Janneh leaped to a mark of 12.41m.
Green set a personal-best in high jump with a leap of 1.65m while Evans made her Temple track and field debut with a mark of 1.55m to tie with Castor.
White (2nd), Elam (3rd), and Pommells (4th) took three of the top four spots in the 200m dash as Pommells set a personal-best time of 25.06.
