Women’s Tennis to Host Drexel for Senior Day Friday, Travel to Villanova Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis (9-4) is set for a weekend full of city rivalries, hosting Drexel (3-10) on Friday at the Cherry Hill Racquet Club before traveling to Villanova on Saturday (3-7) at 10 a.m. The match on Friday, Apr. 8 will serve as senior day for the Owls and is set to kickoff at 10 a.m. with the senior ceremony beginning at 9:45.

- The Cherry and White enter the match on a three-game win streak, with two of those wins coming in a dominant 7-0 fashion over Morgan State and Binghamton.
- Freshman Veronika Kulhava and senior Yining Tian have showed their individual dominance this year, each earning 10 wins in dual singles actions to lead the team. Kulhava is 10-2 in dual play, while going 16-3 overall on the year. Tian follows close behind with a 10-3 dual record and 13-5 overall record.
- The duo of Sena Takebe and Evie Wei have proved their consistency throughout the course of 2022, earning an overall doubles record of 12-4, which includes an 8-3 dual mark and 4-2 tournament showing.
- The Dragons enter the match, most recently coming off a 4-1 win over Norfolk State which broke a six-match losing streak.
- Lorie Lomongo has claimed the No. 1 spot for the Dragons, posting a 5-5 record in dual play as well as an 8-4 tournament record.
- Lomongo is joined by Mya Fuentes in doubles play, claiming the No. 1 spot for Drexel. The pair has posted a 4-5 record to lead the team while also going 3-4 in tournament play.
- The Wildcats enter the match with a 3-7 overall record, picking up back-to-back wins over Seton Hall and Drexel in late March and another win in their most recent matchup against Saint Joseph's on Apr. 5, where they edged out the Hawks, 4-3.
- Villanova is led by senior Annalise Klopfer in singles action, who has amassed an 8-2 overall record, including a 1-1 tournament showing and 7-1 dual performance all from the No. 1 position.
- Klopfer has paired up with Emma Brogan in doubles play, claiming a 3-1 record to lead the team as a pair from the No. 1 spot in 2022.
