Novoseltseva Named USFCA Newcomer of the Year

PHILADELPHIA - Following a fantastic debut season in Cherry and White, Anna Novoseltseva has been named USFCA Women's Team Collegiate Newcomer of the Year.
The foilist represented the Owls at the NCAA Championships last month, finishing 21st with six bout wins. Prior to the NCAAs, Novoseltseva finished seventh at the NCAA to earn a Second-Team All-Region honor and won the Individual Foil Title at the NIWFA Championships.
In the regular season, she went 37-26 to lead the foil squad and earned a No. 14 regional ranking.
"This is a wonderful honor for Anna to receive from the US Fencing Coaches Association," head coach Dr. Nikki Franke said. "As a freshman, she came here ready to learn and contribute to the team's success. She has been a joy to coach and her work ethic is outstanding. She is a very focused individual and a fierce competitor who will continue to improve with time. The sky is the limit! I am very proud of Anna and this award is well deserved."
