Men's Crew Takes Home Four Medals at Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Varsity Eight team finished out the final day of 2022 Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta in third place of the Grand Finals, but it was it was Novice Eight squad that won with ease to open up the medal-earning day for the Temple men's crew program. Four of the five boats earned the top three positions in their respective Grand Finals.

Grand Ole Time
> Four medals were earned by the Cherry & White on Saturday in the Grand Finals, including one gold, two silver, and a bronze.
Varsity Eight
> In their first race of the day, The Gavin White won heat two of the semifinals with victories over Colgate, Delaware, Marietta, Rutgers, and West Point to advance to the Grand Finals.Â
> It was a tight race from the starting line to the finish line to end the Grand Finals.Â
> Temple finished in third place of the O'Brien Trophy results with a time of 5:33.200, 2.589 seconds behind the winner Drexel and .184 behind second-place Colgate.
Novice Eight
> The Rena picked up the Toby Wallace Trophy in the Novice Eight Grand Finals with a time of 5:51.770, an open water victory, almost 10 seconds ahead of second-place Grand Valley.

Second Varsity FourÂ
> For the Ken Shaw Trophy, The Mirabella finished in fifth place, behind fellow Philadelphia school La Salle, Stetson, and two boats from Bowdoin.Â

Third Varsity EightÂ
> The Sassaman pushed hard down the stretch, but they couldn't reel in the eventual winner Drexel.
> The Owls finished in second place in the Grand Final with a time of 5:49.559, 2.968 seconds behind the Dragons, but finished ahead of Saint Joseph's, MIT, and Jacksonville.

Second Varsity Eight
> In the JV heavyweight race, The Marguerite finished in second place behind Drexel with a time of 5:44.181, 6.786 seconds off the first-place time.
> The Owls finished nearly six seconds ahead of the third-place George Washington, eight seconds ahead of Saint Joseph's, 12 seconds ahead of MIT, and 19 seconds in front of Jacksonville.Â
