Men's Crew Wraps Up Banner Season at Henley Royal Regatta

7.2.25 | Men's Crew

HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England - The Temple University men's crew team saw its outstanding 2024-25 season come to a close at the historic Henley Royal Regatta on Wednesday.

Facing Durham University's "A" eight, who advanced to the quarterfinals of last year's Temple Challenge Cup, the Owls fell behind early on in the race. Despite every effort to gain ground on the British boat, Temple fell by two lengths as Durham crossed the finish line in 6:20.

The Owls look ahead to continued success in 2025-26 after putting together an outstanding campaign that included wins at Dad Vail Regatta, Bergen Cup and multiple victories over nationally-ranked crews.

The program was named the Comeback Team of the Year by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association, and the coaching staff led by head coach Brendan Cunningham picked up Division I Coaching Staff of the Year accolades.

Individually, senior Kevin Harvell was named an Empacher/IRCA Second Team All-American and was also named the Temple University Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

In addition, 10 Owls were named Empacher/IRCA Scholar Athletes - Harvell, Grace Crosby, Jack Hanson, Ryan Spellman, Sebastian Rawson, Joe Sayer, Sebastian Gonzalez, Pascal Evans, Brayden MacBride, and Ryan Yates.
