Outdoor Track, Crew to Compete in the Postseason

PHILADELPHIA - Two teams will represent Temple in the post-season, with the track and field team qualifying three student-athletes to the NCAA East Regional and the crew team racing three boats in the IRA Championships Regatta.
Three varsity eight boats will race at Mercer Lake while Laura Nicholson, Tannekee Strachan, and Marissa White all qualified for the NCAA East Regional in their respective events. Only Nicholson and Strachan will compete.
Strachan's personal-best jump of 13.09m in the triple jump earned her a spot in the event. Strachan looks to continue her stellar season after setting the school record earlier this year with a wind-legal mark of 12.98m. Nicholson qualified for the 1,500m run with a time of 4:20.94. Nicholson set the personal-best time back at the Virginia Challenge in April.
The NCAA East Regional will take place from May 26-28 in Bloomington, Ind. at the Haugh Track and Field Complex, with the women's events starting on Thursday, May 26. The first round of the 1,500m and 400m runs will take place at 6:30pm and 7:25pm, respectively, on May 26 while the quarterfinals for the events begin on May 28. The first round for the women's triple jump commences at 6:00pm on May 28. The top 12 individuals in each event will earn a spot at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, which runs from June 8-11 in Eugene, Ore.
The 119th running of the IRA Championships Regatta will be held at Mercer Lake in West Windsor, NJ. Temple's varsity eight boat is one of 24 boats that will compete at the oldest college rowing championship in the United States. Meanwhile, the second varsity eight boat field consists of 23 boats with the third varsity eight field consisting of 16. Races will begin on June 3 and conclude on June 5.
