Men’s Soccer Looks to Keep Momentum Against Seton Hall

PHILADELPHIA – After an opening day victory over Lehigh, the Temple men's soccer team will look to keep the good times rolling as the Seton Hall Pirates visit the Temple Sports Complex on Monday, Aug. 29 at 7 pm. Last year, Temple secured a 0-0 draw on the road against the No. 10 Pirates to open the season. Admission is free to all fans. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT
> Temple earned a win over Lehigh 1-0 on Thursday. It is the first time Temple has won a home opener since 2016.
> Yann Kouemi scored the lone goal of the match in the 6th minute. It was the first goal the Mount St. Mary's transfer has scored in Cherry and White.
> Senior captain Mike Eijgendaal found Kouemi for the assist. Eijgendaal was named Second Team All-Conference in the 2020-21 season. He is Temple's leader in returning goals and points.
> Goalkeeper Eoin Gawronski pitched a shutout for his 5th career clean sheet in just 13 starts.

> Several newcomers have already carved out prominent roles for themselves on the roster. Sawyer Koza, Rocco Häufglöckner, Ferran Vera Filella, Draven Barnett, Kouemi, Fridtjof Andberg, and Elyad Shojaei all saw significant action in the season opener.
> Against Lehigh, the Temple crowd played a large factor. 507 people attended the match, the most at any Temple men's soccer game since 10/5/2019 against Cincinnati.
> This game will be Student Organization Night and International Student Night. Temple has 11 international players from 10 different countries and 4 different continents.
SCOUTING SETON HALL
> 2021 was a disappointing season for Seton Hall. After a No. 10 preseason ranking, the Pirates ended the year 6-8-1.
> Seton Hall started the 2021 campaign 4-0-2, which included a tie over then-No. 10 Virginia Tech. The Pirates finished 2-7-1 in BIG EAST play.
> Seton Hall was picked to finished 10th out of 11 teams in the BIG EAST preseason poll.
> The Pirates defeated Rider 3-0 in their season opener. They are led by head coach Andreas Lindberg. Lindberg has successfully revitalized the Seton Hall program in his 5th season at the helm. In 2020-21 he led The Hall to their first NCAA tournament since 2005.
