Bredin Takes Top Spot at Fordham Fiasco
9.10.22 | Women's Cross Country
BRONX, N.Y. - The Temple women's cross country team continued their success with an impressive showing at the Fordham Fiasco on Saturday morning. Freshman Elvira Bredin led the way once again for the Owls as she took the top spot on the 5k course at Van Cortlandt Park.
Joining Bredin in the top 5 was junior Laura Nicholson in her first race of the season. Fellow freshman Michelle Frowijn placed in the top 10 for a second straight week with a sixth-place finish.
Individual Results (Temple):
1. Elvira Bredin (19:03.6)
4. Laura Nicholson (19:16.8)
6. Michelle Frowijn (19:36.4)
8. Emily Schuler (19:43.5)
9. Cat Shontz (19:46.1)
32. Molly Demarzo (20:50.0)
47. Abigail Cole (22:12.8)
Quotable: Assistant Coach Charlotte Imer
"I'm really impressed with the ladies efforts today. Van Cortlandt is renowned for being a tough course but this didn't seem to phase them too much. It was fantastic to see Elvira get the win and have 5 of our women place within the top 10. This should be a nice little confidence boost for the women as they look to compete on a much bigger stage in a couple of weeks time. Up until now we've really just scratched the surface in terms of training, which makes me excited to see what's possible for this young group with another week or so of hard, quality training."
