Women’s Soccer Prepares for Road Test Against Rider Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (0-2-2, 0-0-0 AAC) is set for their fourth consecutive road test, traveling to Lawrenceville, N.J., to take on Rider on Saturday evening. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on www.gobroncs.com.

The matchup between the Owls and the Broncs marks the tenth time the teams have met in program history with a contest record of 4-3-2. The teams' last meeting came in 2021, where the Owls and the Broncs ended in a 1-1 stalemate despite advancing to double overtime.

- The Owls dropped to 0-2-2 on the year after falling to No. 9 Rutgers on Thursday night on the road. Goalkeeper Kyla Burns headlined the defensive efforts, recording a career-high 12 saves in the match to advance to 21 saves on the year.
- Prior to Rutgers, the Owls recorded their second draw of 2022 in a 0-0 tie against Penn on Aug. 26. Burns had another standout performance, grabbing five saves to keep the game scoreless which ultimately earned her a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll, the first conference award of her career.
- First Team All-Conference returner, Emily Kavanaugh remains the team point leader, notching the first goal of 2022, after netting a header in the 63rd minute of the Maryland matchup off a goalie deflection.
- The matchup against Temple serves as the home opener for Rider, who started their season with a four-game road stretch, where they posted a 3-1-0 record. The Broncs only loss came to Albany on Wednesday, Aug. 31, where they dropped 3-1 to the Great Danes.
- The Broncs have a dynamic lineup, showcasing multiple offensive forces this year. Seven student-athletes have netted at least one goal already this season, with Makenzie Rodrigues leading the charge. Rodrigues has found the back of the net four times, while adding an assist for a team-high, nine points.
- Ellie Sciancalepore has been the primary keeper for the Broncs, clocking 360 minutes in goal this season, while recording 24 saves for a .828 save percentage. Her .828 save percentage in the second highest in the MAAC, falling just below Katie Wright of Fairfield who has upheld a .833 save percentage in three games.
