Salmon Announces 2022-23 Fencing Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple fencing team has announced the 2022-23 slate, its first schedule with head coach Jennie Salmon at the helm of the program. The Owls' campaign is once again highlighted by top competition and two home events.

"We just completed a strong preseason and the team has jumped into our regular-season training with enthusiasm and determination, as well as defining individual and team goals," Salmon said. "We never back away from a challenge and will be ready to face our demanding schedule, be Temple TUFF, and excel!" 

The team will get back into competition with a USA Fencing event, heading to Minneapolis for the October NAC from Oct. 7-10. The first collegiate event for the team will be the 42nd Annual Temple Open on Oct. 29 before traveling to Penn State for the Garret Open on Nov. 5

Temple will open dual play in Philly, heading down the road to the Elite Meet at Penn on Nov. 19. The Sacred Heart Duals on Dec. 4 will be the lone collegiate meet for the Owls in December, with the team set to pick up more USA Fencing competition at the December NAC in Salt Lake City from Dec. 9-12. 

The Cherry and White will open 2023 in Louisville for the January NAC from Jan. 6-9. The team will head back to State College, Pa. on Jan. 15 for the Penn State Invitational before returning to the City of Brotherly Love for the Philadelphia Invitational hosted by Penn from Jan. 21-22. 

The Owls will compete in the Windy City for the Northwestern Duals from Feb. 4-5 and in New Jersey for the FDU Invitational on Feb. 11. Temple will close out USA Fencing competition from Feb. 17-20 at the Junior Olympics in Denver, returning to North Broad for the Temple Invitational on Feb. 26. to close out the regular season.

Temple will look for its 27th-straight NIWFA Title at the NIWFA Championships on March 4 at Drew to open postseason play before heading down the road for NCAA Regionals at Haverford on March 11. The Cherry and White will close the season at the NCAA Championships at Duke from March 23-24.
