Women’s Basketball Hosts School Day Game for the First Time Since 2019

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (7-8, 2-1 AAC) is set to face the East Carolina Pirates (11-5, 2-1 AAC) in its first home game in two weeks. This will be the Owls' first School Day Game since 2019 due to the pandemic. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT: Temple 77 @ Cincinnati 73
> Temple captured its first conference road victory, defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats 77-73.
> Temple built a decisive lead early, charging ahead by as many 13 points in the third quarter. The Owls were able to stuff a comeback attempt from Cincinnati in the fourth with 22 points in the final frame.
> Several Owls had standout days. Jasha Clinton scored a career-high 28 points, Aleah Nelson scored 20 while shooting 4-6 from deep, Tiarra East recorded her second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Brittany Garner rejected a career-best four blocks.

> Nelson has been a star on the offensive end in the American. The point guard is putting up 15.9 points per game, good for 4th in the conference. She also ranks 3rd in assists with 4.3 per contest (3rd in conference) and is 2nd in assist to turnover ratio (2.32).
> Clinton has been on fire the last in the last month or so. She has scored in double-figures in six of the last seven games and has scored at least 14 points in each of the last four contests. The guard is averaging 17.5 points per game in her last four. She was named to the AAC and Big 5 Weekly Honor Rolls Monday.
> East has continued to be a solid presence for the Cherry & White off the bench. The sixth man has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. She is averaging 11.3 points and a team-leading 6.3 rebounds per contest.
SCOUTING EAST CAROLINA
> ECU is experiencing a resurgence in 2022-23 after three straight losing seasons. In 2022-23, the Pirates are off to a very strong start, earning an 11-5 record and a 2-1 mark in conference play. They have won their last two matchups against AAC opponents, taking down Memphis 55-47 and Tulane 63-53.
> Danae McNeal is the lone player averaging double-figures for the Pirates. She is putting up 14.7 points per game. Amiya Joyner is another player to watch for ECU, she ranks second on the team in scoring with 8.8 ppg and leads the team in rebounds with 7.3 per contest. She has won AAC Freshman of the Week in three straight weeks.
> Kim McNeill is the head coach for East Carolina in her 4th season. She is 39-58 in her four seasons in Greenville. Prior to her time with the Pirates, McNeill was the bench boss at Hartford for three seasons.
