Women’s Basketball Hosts House of the Owls Night as Tulsa Comes to Town

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (7-9, 2-2 AAC) will host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (14-3, 4-0 AAC) Tuesday night at Liacouras Center. It will be "House of the Owls" night, with the first 150 fans in attendance receiving a "House of the Owls" t-shirt based on the hit-HBO show House of the Dragon.
LAST TIME OUT: East Carolina 72 @ Temple 51
> Temple fell at the hands of the East Carolina Pirates, 72-51 on Wednesday.
> East Carolina took an early lead and never looked back. Caranda Perea led Temple with a season-high 11 points.
> The game was Temple's first school day game since January 2020. Roughly 1500 students were in attendance from 20 schools in the Philadelphia metro area.
THE OWLS
> Aleah Nelson leads Temple in both scoring (15.0) and assists (4.1). Her last game broke a three-game double figures scoring streak. The point guard ranks sixth and third in the American Athletic Conference, respectively.
> Jasha Clinton has been one of the Owls' best players over the last month or so. She has scored in double-figures in six of the last eight games. She is currently averaging 12.1 points per game. The guard was named to the AAC and Big 5 Weekly Honor Rolls Monday.

> Forward Ines Piper ranks second on the team in rebounds with 4.6 per game. She is also scoring 4.6 points per contest.
SCOUTING TULSA
> Tulsa experienced a resurgence last year, earning a 17-11 record after six straight losing seasons. Despite a 5-8 conference record, the Golden Hurricane earned a WNIT at-large berth where they defeated North Texas in their opening match but fell to Wyoming in the second round.
> This season, the program is having its best season in arguably decades thus far. The team is 14-3 and a perfect 4-0 in conference. The Golden Hurricane are second in the AAC standings.
> Temira Poindexter is the player to watch for Tulsa. The forward leads the Golden Hurricane in both points (15.8 pp) and rebounds (6.2 rpg).
> Angie Nelp leads Tulsa in her second season. She previously spent several seasons on the coaching staff at Arizona State. Nelp has engineered a staggering turnaround in her two seasons in Tulsa. She has a 31-14 record, the best two-year stretch Tulsa has had in over 10 years.
