Men’s Tennis Looks To Continue Building On Last Year’s Success As A New Season Begins

 PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's Tennis (0-0) will begin their season on a three-game road skid starting in Richmond, Va., with the VCU Rams (0-0). This will pose as a great test for Temple early in the season as VCU is coming off a conference championship season. The match will be held in the Thalhimer Tennis Center and will begin on Friday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m.
 
 
THE OWLS
  • After a 12-10 season, without a loss at home, Temple fell to No. 26 SMU at the Case Tennis Center in the AAC Championship Quarterfinal tournament, 4-2.
  • In the fall, Temple sent four student-athletes to Tulsa, OK to participate in the ITA-All American Tournament: Leo Raquin, Thibault Frumholz, Gregoire Barety and Marin Delmas
  • As a team, the Owls kept busy in the fall. They participated in the Penn Invite playing the likes of Dartmouth, Drexel, Liberty and Princeton, the ITA Regional Tournament in Virginia from Oct. 19-23, and the Drexel Invite from Oct. 30-31.
 
Scouting VCU
  • The Rams finished the 2022 spring season with an overall record of 22-7. They won their fifth straight A10 title and made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
  • The doubles pairing of Matisse Bobichon and Rayane Stable ranked 29th in the nation following last season with a record of 7-2. On his own in singles play, Matisse Bobichon ranked 40th with a 9-3 record.
  • VCU was able to secure a win in the first round of the NCAA tournament beating the Penn Quakers 4-3. However, No. 7 Virginia put an end to their season beating the Rams 4-0 in the second round just days later.
  • Maxence Bertimon and Charles Bertimon were honored as 2022 ITA All-Americans as a doubles pairing. They finished with a 23-10 record ranking 13th overall.
