STATEN ISLAND, N.Y - Allie Riches led the Temple Owls indoor track and field team at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday inside the Ocean Breeze Track and Field Facility where she set a new school record during the the pole vault competition with a 3.75-meter height.

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

Riches' pole vault mark gave her fourth place on the day, while breaking the previous school-best height of 3.73 meters set by Melissa Gale 13 years ago in 2010.
High jumpers Jaaliyah Evans, Nicole Castor, and Amira Green all jumped to 1.60 meters on Saturday, but since Evans reached her personal-best mark in less attempts, the sophomore earned herself second-place. Green and Castor would go on to tie for third and fifth, respectively.
Senior distance runner Laura Nicholson finished the 17-runner 3000 meters in third place with a time of 10:02.70.
Chelby Elam ran the 60 meters two times on Saturday as she qualified for the finals with a time of 7.75 in the preliminaries. In the finals, Elam finished in sixth place with a time of 7.76.
In the 200 meters, the Philadelphia native, Elam ran a season-best time, 25.51, finishing in the top 10.
Three Owls ran the mile for the first time in their careers, including Elvira Bredin (5:02.87), Cat Shontz (5:17.80), and Abigail Cole (5:42.41). Bredin led the trio with an eighth-place finish.
Temple had two teams in the 4x400-relay race on Saturday. Marissa White, Kwanda Knight, Chelby Elam, and Christal Pommells finished in seventh place with a time of 3:58.97. Additionally, Madison Trout, Lauren Greig, Isatu Shirek, and Jewel Oftan finished with a time of 4:02.25, good for ninth place.
