No. 11 Fencing to Compete at January NAC

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 11 Temple fencing team will return to the strip with a USA Fencing event, opening 2023 at the January North American Cup in Louisville, Ky. on Jan. 7-9.
This will be the first USA Fencing event for the majority of the team this season, with Zoe Turner (sabre) placing 24th at the December NAC. The Owls are 7-4 on the season, going 3-3 at the Elite Invitational and 4-1 at the Sacred Heart Duals.Â
In team play, sophomore Anna Novoseltseva (foil) leads all three squads with a 19-6 mark while foilist Gretl Merges is 13-10. Sarah Park leads the epee squad, going 11-6 through the first two dual meets of the season. Naomi Ross and Margherita Calderaro round out the epeeists with double-digit wins, holding a 10-9 and 10-8 mark, respectively. Emma Pincus' 13-6 record leads the sabre squad, while Turner, Eva Ventura, and Arwen Gormley have each earned 11 wins.
The meet will take place over three days, with each weapon fencing on a different day. Foil will compete on Jan. 7 at 8 a.m., sabre will compete on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m., and epee will compete on Jan. 9 at 8 a.m.
