Golf Moves Up Four Spots, Finishes Tied for 8th at Bill Cullum Invitational

SOMIS, CA - Sophomore Aidan Emmerich carded a two-under 70 on the final day to help Temple Golf move up four spots and tie for eighth at the 27th annual Bill Cullum Invitational. It marked the second tournament (out of four) that Emmerich has been the Owls individual leader and tied for his best showing (+1) for a tournament.
Recapping the Round
> Emmerich, a transfer from Michigan State, had five birdies on his final round, including consecutive ones on holes 16 and 17. He also finished strong, playing his final seven holes at three-under.
> Senior Graham Chase and junior Michael Walsh were next for the Cherry and White, tying for 42nd with 12-over 228s. Chase struggled with a five over 77 while Walsh was three-over (75) for his final round.
> Junior Ethan Whitney, who had a rough first day, turned in the second-best round by an Owl on Tuesday. He shot a two-over 74 and tied for 66th with a 19-over 235. Freshman Matthew Vital rounded out the five-man squad with a 236 to place 68th.
> Playing as individuals, Joey Morganti placed 72nd with a 240 while Jacob Haberstumpf finished tied for 79th (243). Â Â
The Field
>  Cal State Fullerton shot a six under 282 on the final day to finish with a six-over 870 to top second place Hawaii (876) by six strokes. Two-time defending champion and tournament host Cal State Northridge finished third, seven shots back with an 877.
> Cal State Fullerton's Patrick Ordonez and Cal State Bernardino's John Kim tied for the lead with three-under 213s. Ordonez took medalist honors after winning a one-hole playoff.
