Golf to Compete at Phoenix Invitational

BURLINGTON, NC – Temple Golf heads back to North Carolina to compete in the 15-team Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon University. The tournament will be a two-day, 54-hole event with two rounds on Monday (Oct. 16) followed by 18 holes on Tuesday at the 6,867-yard, par-71 Alamance Country Club.
Previewing the Tournament
> With his third Top 10 finish of the season, Aidan Emmerich now leads the Owls with a 72.90 stroke average. Emmerich led the Owls and placed eighth overall at The Bill Cullum Invitational last week with a one-over 217.
> Ethan Whitney, who is next for Temple with a 73.50 stroke average, will look to regain his form after struggling the first day at the California tournament before recording a two-over 74 on the final day.
> Graham Chase (73.80) and Michael Walsh (74.20) are close behind, giving the Owls four golfers within 1.3 strokes of each other. Chase has played extremely well at the Alamance C.C. the last two years, shooting a career high 65 and tying for fourth last year (-8) to lead Temple. In 2021, he finished five under and tied for 10th overall.
> Andrew Curran (74.43), who has competed in three of the four tournaments, rounds out the starting five.
> Jake Naese, who has a 75.50 average while competing in the Temple Invitational, will compete as an individual.
The Field
> Temple, and host Elon, will be joined by Appalachian State, Dartmouth, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, George Washington, North Carolina A&T, Longwood, Ohio, Old Dominion, Presbyterian, Queens, Radford, and Western Carolina. Additionally, NC State and UNCG will have individuals competing.
> Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Tuesday will see the teams tee off from holes one and 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
