Field Hockey Tops Quinnipiac in Overtime, Clinches BIG EAST Tournament Berth

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Temple field hockey team (10-7, 4-3 BIG EAST) closed out its conference slate Friday afternoon, topping Quinnipiac (6-10, 2-5 BIG EAST) 3-2 in overtime. With the win, the Owls clinched a BIG EAST Tournament berth for the fourth-straight year. The team will enter the tournament as the No. 3 seed and face the No. 2 seed Old Dominion.
Recapping the Game
> Neither team was able to get much offensive momentum in the first quarter, with Temple firing the lone shot of the frame.Â
> Devin Kinzel put the Owls on the board at the 19-minute mark, converting the second of two back-to-back penalty corner attempts.
> Quinnipiac countered just seven minutes later, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
> Kinzel scored her second of the day in the fourth quarter to once again give the Cherry and White the lead, but the Bobcats answered with one-minute left in the game to force an overtime situation.
> Myrthe Schuilenburg converted a penalty corner at the 67-minute mark for her second of the season to seal the win and Temple's postseason berth.
