Golf Finishes Sixth at Ironwood Collegiate Classic

Greenville, N.C. – Temple Golf shot a three-under 285 on the final day of the Ironwood Collegiate Classic Tuesday, finishing in sixth place in the 14-team field. For the 54-hole, two-day tournament, the Owls finished with a season-best three-under 861 score at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club. It marked the first sub-par team finish for the Owls since the 2022 GolfWeek Fall Challenge that opened last season.
Recapping the Final Round
> Ethan Whitney led the Owls overall, shooting a one-under 71 on the day and a two-under 214 to lead Temple and tie for 15th overall. Whitney was one of three Owls who made five birdies on the day.
>True freshman Matthew Vital, making his first appearance in the Owls starting lineup, had the best round by an Owl Tuesday, shooting a three-under 69. Vital carded four birdies against just one bogey and finished second for Temple and tied for 24th overall with an even-par 216.
> Michael Walsh had his second straight round under par, matching Whitney with five birdies and a one-under 71 on the day. He finished the tournament tied for 44th with a four-over 220.
> Graham Chase, who was tied with Whitney after the first day, shot a three-over 74 and finished with a one-over 217 and tied for 28th. He also tied for the team lead with five birdies on the day, including four straight holes (one thru four).
> Aidan Emmerich rounded out the five-man squad with a six-over 78. He finished tied for 64th with a 10-over 226.
The Field
> Florida Atlantic won the tournament with a 30-under 834. The Owls bested host East Carolina (841) by seven strokes. .
> East Carolina's Lucas Augustsson shot a 15-under 201 to win the tournament with Florida Atlantic's Max Sturzda, who shot a six-under 66 for his final round, finishing three shots back in second (204).
