Aleah Nelson Named to Preseason All-AAC Team

IRVING, Tx. – Guard Aleah Nelson has been named to the preseason American Athletic Conference Second Team as voted on league coaches. This follows her earning second-team honors at the conclusion of last season. Temple was picked to finish ninth out of 14 teams in the newly expanded American.
South Florida finished first with 10 first place votes and 166 points, beating out reigning conference champion East Carolina with four first place votes and 159 points. Rice checks in as the highest ranked of the six newcomers with 135 points in third place, they are the only one of the six in the top half of the poll. Rice is followed by SMU (4th, 118), Memphis (5th, 115), Tulane (6th, 110), Tulsa (7th, 104).
In the bottom half of the conference UTSA comes in a 8th (75), followed by the Owls (9th, 72), Charlotte (10th, 62), Wichita State (11th, 53), North Texas (12th, 47), UAB (13th, 30), and FAU (14th, 28).
The American's women's basketball championships will be contested at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, March 9-13.
