11.1.23 | Women's Fencing

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple fencing team has been ranked No. 11 in the USFCA Preseason Poll, as announced by the organization.

20 head women's fencing coaches voted in the women's poll, ranking 15 Division I teams and eight Division III teams. The next rankings will be released in mid-January.

The Owls ended the 2022-23 season ranked No. 11, going 30-17 in dual play and earning its 27th straight NIWFA title as well as two individual titles and sweeping the squad weapons titles. The Cherry and White once again sent the maximum 12 fencers to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional, with Anna Novoseltseva (foil) advancing to the NCAA Championships and Eva Ventura (sabre) qualifying as a first alternate.

Temple has started the 2023-24 campaign on the right foot, opening the preseason at the Garret Open hosted by Penn State on Oct. 21. The Owls saw five top-8 finishes and eight top-15 finishes, with Novoseltseva's third-place finish leading the team.

TU will close out the preseason with the newly renamed Coach Nikki Franke Classic (formerly the Temple Open) on Nov. 4-5 before opening the regular season at the Sacred Heart Duals on Dec. 3.
