Women’s Basketball Hosts Bucknell in Saturday Night Showdown

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (1-1) will play host to in-state foe Bucknell (0-1) on Saturday night at the Liacouras Center. This matchup will conclude a three-game homestand to kick off the season for the Owls. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and the Varsity Network App. Tickets are available to purchase at Owlstix.com.

LAST TIME OUT: Georgetown 68 @ Temple 45
> The Owls suffered their first defeat of the season Thursday night against BIG EAST opponent Georgetown.
> The Hoyas came out fast and furious, taking a 16-point lead in the first quarter while hitting 71% from the field. The visitors from D.C. never looked back.
> Georgetown was red hot from the field, hitting 53% of all shots and 45% from three.
> Rayne Tucker and Tarriyonna Gary led Temple with 12 points apiece.

THE OWLS
> Gary paces the Owls in scoring through two games with 11.5 points per contest. She is one of three averaging double-doubles alongside forwards Tucker and Ines Piper.
> Piper has also been eating up the glass. The forward is fifth in rebounding in the AAC with 9.5 boards per game.
> Freshman point guard Tristen Taylor has proven to be a force on the defensive end. She has four steals per game through two, the most in the American Athletic Conference.
> First Team Big 5 and Second Team All-AAC guard Aleah Nelson headlines for the Owls this season. In 2022-23, Nelson averaged 15.4 points per game and 4.1 assists per game, leading the team in both categories. In her four-year collegiate career, Nelson has scored 1,296 points and passed for 465 assists her career. She will look to be only the third player in Temple women's basketball history to score 1000 points and pass for 500 assists all time.

SCOUTING BUCKNELL
> Bucknell posted a 13-17 record last season, including 9-9 in the Patriot League.
> The Bison were on the wrong end of a 94-51 result at Penn State to start the season. Isabella King is the key returner for Bucknell. The wing scored 14 points in the opener in Happy Valley.
> Head Coach Trevor Woodruff in his 5th season at Bucknell and 9th as a head coach. He has been successful at Bucknell, with two 24-win seasons and a 70-35 record. Prior to his time in Lewisburg, Woodruff coached at Scranton where he owns a 113-10 record.

 SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and Bucknell have played in three of the last four seasons.
> Last year, the two met in Lewisburg, Pa. with the Cherry & White pulling out the largest victory in series history (77-62). Aleah Nelson scored a game-high 23 points while scorching the net to go 6-9 from beyond the arc.
> Temple and Bucknell have met just four times in series history. The Owls have won all four times.
