PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University women's volleyball player Taylor Davenport was named to her second straight Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team, as released by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon.
Â
Davenport was named to the 2023 team for her combined performance of both on and off the court.
Â
In 2023, Davenport earned an AAC Offensive Player of the Week and two AAC Honor Roll selections. The senior was fifth overall in the AAC with 411 kills and averaged 3.51 kills/set. Additionally, the Columbia, S.C. native recorded 20 or more kills in five matches, including a career-high 28 at Memphis late in the season on Nov. 11. Davenport was also fourth in the conference this season, averaging 4.16 points per set.
Â
To be considered for the award, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale at their current institution. The nominees must have also participated in 90 percent of the team's games at their listed position.
Â
Davenport will now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot where first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honors will be announced in January. The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions; NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
