Track & Field Competes in Day One of the AAC Indoor Conference Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Temple track & field team competed hard in the first day of the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships being held in Birmingham, Alabama. 12 Owls competed on day one, with 11 competing in the finals tomorrow. Laura Nicholson headlined, advancing in both the mile, and the 800m.

Results
- Elvira Bredin and Nicholson both had strong showings in the mile, advancing to the final tomorrow. Bredin set an indoor personal record, clocking a time of 5:01.15.
- Chidumga Nkulume set a personal best in 400m dash for the second straight meet, she ran a time of 57.85, besting the mark of 57.97 she set last meet.
- Chelby Elam ran a time of 7.65, just .02 seconds short of her personal best (7.63) in the 60m.
- Nicolson placed eighth in the 800m run to earn her way to the final tomorrow.
- Madison Trout set a personal record in the 200m dash with a time of 25.18 seconds.
- Elam continued her strong day in the 200m, earning a time of 24.96. She set a new indoor personal best in the event.
- Temple's day will begin with Nicole Castor, Jaaliyah Evans, and Amira Green competing in the high jump at 9:45.
- Strachan competes in her signature event next in the Triple Jump at 11:00.
- Nicolson and Bredin will compete in the mile finals at 11:20.
- Nicolson returns to run in the 800m final at 1:00 p.m.
- Cat Shontz will run in the 3000m finals at 1:40.
- The day will conclude with 4x400m finals at 2:40.
