Hampton-Keith Announces Signing of Avery Luoma

PHILADELPHIA – On Wednesday, Temple women's volleyball Head Coach Linda Hampton-Keith announced the signing of Avery Luoma to the Owls' roster.
"Avery will be a welcome addition to our roster this fall. She has consistently been one of the best players in the Ivy League and her experience on the court and as a leader will help us continue to elevate our program, said Hampton-Keith. "Princeton is a well respected, successful program and Avery's skills as a six-rotation athlete, her drive to win and her steady presence will impact our program immediately. We can't wait for her to join us here on North Broad!"
Luoma, a transfer from Princeton University spent three seasons (2019-22) playing for Tigers, earning First Team All-Ivy League honors in 2022 and 2021, Second Team All-ECAC, and College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District in 2022. In Luoma's 47 career matches, she totaled 601.5 points, 519 kills, 344 digs, 106 blocks, and 26 service aces.
The right-side hitter started 23 matches in 2022 and was among the Ivy League offensive leaders as she ranked third in both points/set (3.67) and kills/set (3.81). With seven matches of at least 15 kills last season, Luoma had the eighth-best (.317) hitting percentage in the conference. The former Tiger also showed strong defensive presence as she was third on the team with 201 digs and 37 blocks.
During the 2021 season, the Phoenix, Ariz. native started all 22 matches where she finished with the second-most kills (241) on the squad, was seventh in the Ivy with 3.09 kills/set and had the eighth-best league hitting percentage of .316. Defensively, Luoma finished second on the team with 64 blocks and finished fourth on the team with 1.83 digs/set.
