Men’s Tennis Hands Delaware Its Second Loss of Season in Tight 4-3 Victory

CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Temple men's tennis (12-2) continues their winning way by narrowly beating the Delaware Blue Hens 4-3 on Wednesday, March 15 at the Cherry Hill Racquet Club. With the win, the Owls keep the winning streak alive, now extending it to 12 straight victories.

"It was a hard-fought match against a very good Delaware team today," Coach Steve Mauro said. "The men came out strong with excellent doubles play and then had some hard-fought matches in singles. I'm very happy with the effort they displayed and to keep the streak going."
NEXT UP:
The Owls will now take the next few days to prepare for Xavier coming to the Hecht Tennis Center on Penn's campus. The match is set for Saturday, March 18 and will begin at 4:00 p.m.
NOTES:
- Temple kept the doubles lineup the same as the Marist match placing Marin Delmas and Gregoire Barety in the second position and keeping Leo Raquin and Thibault Frumholz at the number one spot. Raquin/Frumholz secured the first win followed by Louis Gorregues and Hussein El Tawil battling for the second win from the third position to give Temple the 1-0 lead.
- Delmas and Raquin kept the momentum on Temple's side winning from the first and second position of doubles play to extend the Owls' lead.
- Delaware's Daniel Krulig and William Wibmer helped keep the Blue Hen's in the match by winning from the third and fourth positions to bring the score to 3-2 in favor of Temple.
- Temple's Thibault Frumholz faced Tobey Lock in the fifth position following UD's back-to-back wins. Frumholz lost the first set to Lock but fought back to win sets two and three to secure Temple's fourth point on the afternoon. The win pushes Frumholz's record to 4-0 from the fifth position and 9-2 in singles play this spring.
