Women’s Lacrosse Prepares to Travel to No. 16 Yale Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple lacrosse (5-3, 0-0 AAC) is set to travel to New Haven, Conn., to face off against the No. 16 Yale Bulldogs (5-2) at Reese Stadium on Saturday afternoon. First draw is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

The matchup between Temple and Yale marks the eleventh time the teams' have met in program history, with an all-time record of 9-1. The teams last met 30 years ago, in 1993, where the Owls defeated the Bulldogs, 10-9 in overtime.
Scouting Temple
- The Owls enter the matchup with a 5-3 record, coming off a 1-1 performance last week. The Cherry and White posted a 14-10 road win against Marist on Wednesday before dropping to UMBC at home, 11-10 in overtime.
- Belle Mastropietro led the scoring efforts against Marist, netting four, while Maeve Tobin followed closely behind with three of her own.
- Amelia Wright showed success against UMBC, posting four points on three goals and one assist. The sophomore now sits at third on the team in points (18), on 12 goals and six assists.
- Taylor Grollman had a career-best game in goal against the Retrievers, recording 10 saves, advancing to 45 on the season.
- Mastropietro continues to lead the team in the point category with 30, on 22 goals and 8 assists. Her 30 points ranks sixth in the conference in points per game (3.75) while her 22 goals ranks tied for fifth in goals per game (2.75).
- Mackenzie Roth has been a valuable contributor on offense, recording 21 points on 11 goals and 10 assists. Her 10 assists ties for sixth in the conference in assists per game (1.25).
- Camryn Zavacky, Julie Schickling and Tobin have rounded out the offensive unit with double-digit points in 2023, posting 13, 12, and 11 respectively.
- Defender's Katie Shallow and Maddie Barber have spearheaded the defensive unit, combining for 49 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers. Shallow leads the way with 25 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. The junior ranks third in ground balls per game (3.00) in the conference and 19th nationally, while ranking third in caused turnovers per game (1.75) in the conference and 40th nationally.
- Yale enters the matchup with a 5-2 record, most recently posting a notable win over No. 15 Duke, 15-14 on Wednesday evening. Sophomore Jenna Collingnon had yet another standout performance, netting seven goals, including the game winning 15th goal to give the Bulldogs the win.
- Collingnon now advances to 32 points on the season with 28 goals and four assists, leading the team point category by a 17-point margin.
- The win over Duke does not serve as the nationally ranked Bulldogs first ranked win, the squad also posted a dominant 15-10 victory over No. 15 Princeton on Mar. 4.
- Olivia Penoyer, Fallon Vaughan and Bella Saviano have all contributed to the offensive production, posting double digits points with 17, 16 and 11 respectively. Penoyer has been a valuable helper, with 13 of her points coming from assists.
- Prior the win over Duke, the Bulldogs were upset by UConn (RV), 11-10 in overtime. This loss served as their second loss of the season, previously falling to No. 5 Stony Brook on Feb. 25.
- Clare Boone has been the starting goalkeeper for Yale, posting 31 saves for a 8.80 GAA.
- The Bulldogs have found success from multiple players on the draw circle with Sky Carrasquillo leading the charge with 29 followed by Taylor Lane (22), Collignon (17) and Vaughan (15).
